MORALITY SHALL ALWAYS TRIUMPH OVER DEPRAVITY

Have you asked yourself the question? Why is Nelson Mandela highly respected in the world even though he was one of the African leaders that are usually mostly despised especially by the West? The answer is not far fetched. Madiba was a moral force and still is even in death, in the realm of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Teresa.

You wonder why Barack Obama, POTUS 44 has remained very popular almost four years after exiting the White House? Barack and spouse, Michelle are strong moral force.

Morality encapsulates goodness, rightness, virtue, humility and righteousness. Morality is that potent fire extinguisher that douses the most raging fire of perfidy, debauchery and bad behavior.

You wonder why a vicious criminal suspect bows and humbles self in a courtroom? It is the superiority of morality over evil.

Without carrying any weapon, the presence of a morally upright person always sends shivers to traitors. It pricks their conscience.

Morality is the grace of being hurt but having the temperament to forgive and not seek revenge, even though the victim should not forget in order not to fall for the trap in the future.

There is this 1975 Indian movie titled ‘Sholay’. Dharmendra Deol, Amitabh Bachchan and late Sanjeev Kumar are the major heroes while late Amjad Khan and his retinue of goons are the villain.

Dharmendra (Veeru) and Amitabh (Jai) are benign criminals while Amjad Khan and his gang are vicious. Sanjeev Kumar is a retired cop whose moral conviction is to put an end to the evil of Amjad Khan and his goons. He suffers greatly for daring Amjad Khan.

Dharmendra and Amitabh are first humbled by a widow in Sanjeev Kumar’s estate, (Radha) by her moral force. The benign duo agree to a contract to help put an end to Amjad Khan’s (Gabbar Singh Character) persistent raiding with impunity, of communities in remote villages. But out of their exuberance and greed, they notice a safe they suspect must contain valuables and they surreptitiously attempt to steal from the safe by using their street smart stealing expertise to open the safe. The widow bursts them in the act and releases the keys to them to steal whatever they feel like. Both are humbled and apologize and turn a new lease since then until they finish their assignment.

It is the moral force in the upright that makes an impostor fidgets at the sight of the person they have tried to undermine even though oblivious of their evil act.

What best illustrates the extreme divide between morality and depravity is that most actions in the former are done in the open, safe matters of security, while the latter are either clandestine or done in secrecy.

Adulterers try safe havens to conduct their illicit affairs. Criminals strike and run. You wonder why police stations are in the open and the dens of the criminals are in dilapidated, isolated, and abandoned locations? Why do police carry their weapons in the open and criminals hide theirs in places people can least imagine?

Why was Gani Fawehinmi able to give the worst of dictators bloody nose despite their mass weapons of coercion and secret police? Why is Femi Falana able to speak the truth to power ?

The simple answer is that they are morally rich such that they do not have skeletons in their cupboard.

No human being is a saint, but if you practice what you preach to a great extent, then you are a moral force.

In conclusion, if you are morally upright then you fit into that Bible verse (John 8:32), “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
